Wosene Worke Kosrof
Wosene Worke Kosrof (b. 1950) is an Ethiopian-born contemporary artist celebrated for his inventive incorporations of Amharic script into abstract paintings. Trained at the Addis Ababa School of Fine Arts and later at Howard University (MFA), Wosene translates written characters into expressive visual marks that bridge language, ritual, and visual rhythm. He is recognized internationally for elevating script as a painterly gesture and for dialoguing with text-based cultural traditions. His work is held in the permanent collections of major international museums.
